At Studio Zeta we have studied and revered the Zagato-bodied Alfa Romeo racing cars for years. The greatest of all these machines is without doubt the incredibly beautiful Giulia Tubolare Zagato 2, better known as the TZ2.

Two factors have mitigated against actually owning one of these works of art - scarcity and value. Even if one had the financial capability to acquire one of these multi-million dollar motorcars, it is doubtful that any of the current owners would be willing to sell their treasure.

A solution to this dilemma was to construct our own car, but to satisfy our demands it would need to be a 100% faithful replica, accurate down to the last nut and bolt. An absence of technical drawings and data meant that only by gaining access to an original car would we be able to consider this project seriously. Fortunately this was possible, and every single last component has been meticulously copied.

At all times adherence to the original design and construction was paramount, and although this has created several problems to overcome, and vast costs to be borne, the final result is something of which we are very proud.

During the process of recreating this masterpiece we have gathered together many original "new old stock" parts, which have been incorporated in the build-up. What we haven't been able to source we have made new, where possible using the original tooling and at other times copying the original parts to make new patterns from which to cast replica parts. The body was cast in the original Autodelta moulds, so complete accuracy is ensured. The main component, the chassis, was built in the original jigs used by Autodelta's sub-contractor in the 1960s, by the same man who built the originals. Importantly, the same aircraft specification chrome moly steel is used for the tubing, which while adding to the cost, does ensure the necessary levels of strength are achieved.
This is typical of the no compromise approach that runs all through the project. At the outset the decision was taken that, whatever the cost, it had to be done correctly, otherwise there was no point in doing it at all.

Please note - this project is in no way associated with a certain TZ2 replica which has recently been advertised in mainland Europe. That car's vendor claims his car to be "100% perfect". Please go and see that car and compare it to our car. Draw your own conclusions!

We welcome enquiries from customers who would like their own TZ2 replica, and would be pleased to discuss your requirements, with a view to undertaking commissions for further copies.
